Red light therapy wavelengths explained
Independent guideCurrent product researchSources in context
Wavelength describes a property of light and is commonly expressed in nanometers. Red light is visible. Near infrared light is outside the visible range.
Common ranges
Joovv describes red light as roughly 620 to 750 nm and notes that much human photobiomodulation research focuses on narrower red and near infrared ranges. Its current devices use 660 nm red light and 850 nm near infrared light.
More wavelengths do not automatically mean a better device
A longer specification list can look impressive, but the useful question is whether the wavelengths, dose, and protocol make sense for the intended application. Compare the whole treatment setup rather than counting wavelengths.
